An example of Gwynn's sense of humour, sent to me by he and Anna's good friend, Lynn Kerridge:

One evening Anna and Gwynn were coming for dinner and I was cooking Indian and jokingly I said to Anna I hope you and Gwynn will dress up smartly as it will be a candle lit dinner.
When the taxi turned up they stepped out all suited and booted, Anna in a long evening dress and feather boa,and Gwynn in a smart suit and tie. During the meal I could hear from under the table some sucking noise coming from my dog I didn't look or say anything as I thought Anna was giving my dog some titbits, after the meal we had some deserts and coffee, and then it was suggested that we play trivial pursuit I got up to go and make some coffee.
When I came back and started to pour the coffee I went to pour Gwynns and he moved his chair back and crossed his leg over and this very loud voice went oh my god! I said whatever's the matter and he said look, look what your dog has one to my trouser leg and asi looked down the whole front from the ankle to the knee of his trouser leg had gone had gone . There pieces of his trousers shall we say in bite size pieces laying on the floor under the dinner table about twenty in total .
I and Anna went in hysterical laughter Andy had large brandy as he didn't know what to say and my dog sat there with cotton hanging out of her mouth. It took a long time for Anna and I to speak and we couldn't look at each other.
Gwynn stood up to show the exstent of the damage to his trousers telling me this was his best and one an only interview suit, Anna meanwhile got under the table and picked all the pieces the dog had sucked and chewed an announced that she would take Gwynns trousers and all the pieces to the dry cleaners to see if it could be invisibly repaired. She asked me if I had something to put the bits and pieces in so asked if she wanted a doggy bag that's when Gwynn broke down laughing.
Anyway all was forgiven then a few months went past and I invited them up for dinner again as it was our son Gavin's 18th birthday. Anna looked wonderful in long evening dress jewels and tiara and Gwynn arrived behind her I went to take her coat and Gwynn stood there in his shirt, a dickie bow, dinner jacket and a pair of Bermuda shorts! He said to me when I looked at his shorts he said you don't think I'm going to let that bastard dog get me second time!
